Meet
Amanda Folster...
Amanda is one of those
people who has worn many hats (often at the same time)
during the course of her life. She is a working artist,
instructor, published photographer and nationally certifed
pet groomer. Then there is marriage, church and children
to enjoy.
The one constant in her
life however, has been horses. She has ridden horses
most of her life, organized trailrides for as many as
135 people and horses, dabbled in competive trail, and
more. Her love of horses has led her to many places,
and allowed her to meet a whole world of fascinating
people and their equine partners. Love of horses is
the driving force behind Amanda's subject choices in
her paintings and her photography.
Folster Photography is
her most recent doorway into the equine community. Few
people ever meet Amanda without coming away from the
conversation convinced she is very passionate about
her work. "Good" is never good enough! When
asked why she is always striving for perfection on her
photography skills, she replies:
"If you are
going to do something, why not do it spectacularly?
Photography is not just pointing a camera and pulling
the trigger-not for me anyway. It's art, it's storytelling,
it's drama! I LOVE finding the story behind the scenes.
When my clients say 'I can't believe how you caught
that split second in time!' or 'These photos
are amazing, thank you so much for taking the time to
do it right', it makes my heart glow! There's alot
of work involved, especially in the graphics and digital
darkroom, but oh, I love what I do!"
She goes on to say...
"Horses are
such incredibly powerful and graceful creatures. They
are truly aware of the world around them, and yet so
tolerant of the tasks demanded of them. Think about
it, could you do what your horse does? Probably not.
That deserves some honor and recognition in my opinion.
I try to capture that unspoken quality in my work...the
grace of a mare, the masculine presence and sheer strength
of a stud, the love of a child for their pony as only
a child can have...all these things are a story. I want
to tell that story to any veiwer peeking into one my
photographs, and have them feel like they were there."
There's so much more to
say about Amanda, but that's enough for now. Amanda's
photography will change your view of the world, for
a moment or two anyway.! |
